Pietra Ligure has been awarded the Blue Flag 2014!
This year Pietra Ligure has been awarded the famous Blue Flag, symbol of environmental sustainability on the part of beaches and marinas.
But what is the Blue Flag? The Blue Flag is an international eco-label established in 1987 – European year of the environment – awarded every year in 41 countries, both European and non-European, with the support and the participation of the UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and the UNWTO (United Nations Tourism Organization), with which the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) has signed a global partnership deal.
The Blue Flag is a voluntary eco-label awarded to the tourist seaside resorts which comply to the standards concerning the sustainable management of the environment.
The main aim of this programme is that of addressing the local management policy of many seaside resorts towards a process of environmental sustainability.
