Pietra Ligure is best known as a tourist seaside resort.
You can reach Pietra Ligure from the A10 Genova-Ventimiglia motorway, from Villanova d’Albenga Airport, from the railway line (Pietra Ligure railway station is located in Piazzale Marconi) and from several bus routes.
The excellent temperate climate is guaranteed by the town’s position in the gulf, sheltering it from the north wind.
The town extends on the coast for about 6 kilometres, between Borgio Verezzi and Loano. Coasts are low and pebbly – typical of Ligurian Ponente Riviera.
The town is crossed by the Maremola stream. Behind there is the Monte Carmo (1.389 metres high, located in Loano), the first remarkable peak of the Ligurian Alps after the “Bocchetta di Altare” (in the nearby of Savona).
Within the municipality of Pietra Ligure is the outlying village of Ranzi, located in the backcountry.
